Take Action

Use this page to find ways to get your work removed from Blogs and Websites.

1: Ensure that you have not inadvertently given permission to use any of your work. For example by attributing a Creative Commons Licence to it

2: IMPORTANT - Take a screenshot of your work on their page and make a record of the date & time

3: Contact the site owner. Send a polite email or if it is a blog add a polite comment detailing what they have done wrong. Give them a timescale to respond and take the image down. Also tell them their site has been or will be Named & Shamed. Keep a record of all conversations, including dates & times

4: Wait for a reply to your email or blog post (as per your timescale)

5: When your chosen time period is up, check the site or blog again to see if the image has been removed. If it has, excellent

6: If your image remains in use and you have had no contact then read this excellent article by EPUK Member Simon Crofts:

7: If after contacting the site or blog your image remains in use, you can post the details to our Wall Of Shame

Finding a Domain Owner
You can normally get contact details for .com domains by doing a WhoIs search on their domain name.

Just go to www.who.is and enter the website address.

Remember this only works for real domain names, it won't work on things like wordpress.com or blogger.com, for example.
